From the President’s Desk
Dear Friends,
The summer is upon us and the weather is right for all kinds of gatherings! As your new
President, I have hit the ground running and have been extremely busy since the elections this
past April. We are working tirelessly to create educational and networking events throughout
the state to bring AMTA-IL members closer together. At the same time, we hope to encourage
you to sponsor a meet-up event in your area to help bring us even closer.
The Board of Director’s just finished our Strategic Planning Meeting in June, where we set goals
and made plans for our Chapter for the next two years. All members were invited to attend the
meeting and share their ideas. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend. Your input was
useful and will continue to help guide us as we make decisions.
If you live in the Champaign-Urbana area, you may have heard about the Room/Ride Share and
Networking Meet-Up being hosted by AMTA-IL on July 23, 2016 at Parkland College, located in
the health professions wing at 1309 N. Mattis St. Champaign, IL. We will be meeting to make
arrangements to carpool and share expenses to go to the National Convention, and look at
volunteer opportunities for the Chapter. This event is open to all massage therapists regardless
of AMTA affiliation, and demographic location. The Meet-Up is from 12p-2p in room H-127.
Please email us at illinois@amtamassage.org if you have questions about this event and to
RSVP.
AMTA-IL also has a member meet-up and cookout quickly approaching at 3704 Lebanon Ave.
in Belleville, Illinois, on Saturday July 30th from 2p-5p. Be sure to join us for this networking
event and bring the family…the more the merrier! Food will be provided and you may RSVP via
email at illinois@amtamassage.org and we’ll see you there!
In September, the Chapter has scheduled some well needed continuing education courses, so
mark your calendars now! Kathy Paholsky will be presenting an Ethics and Chronic pain
Seminar. She will be teaching these seminar’s in Fairview Heights on September 23rd , in
Champaign on September 24th, and in Chicago on September 25th.
Join us in Milwaukee, Wisconsin October 26-29th for the AMTA National Convention! We’re
offering an awesome promotion! The first 200 Illinois members to register for the full
convention will save $200! All you have to do is call the National Office (1-877- 905-2700,
promotion available by phone only) and let them know that you’re from IL and would like
to register for the full convention with our promotion, 200 for $200! This benefit is for Illinois
members only and is another way for us to give back to you, the members.
I’m looking forward to seeing and speaking with all of you as we participate in all of the events
that we have scheduled thus far! There will be more to come in every issue so stay tuned and
happy reads!
