Strategic Planning Re-cap
Highlights from AMTA-IL 2015 Strategic Planning Meeting!
Hello, Everyone!
Each year the AMTA-IL Board of Directors and Committee Chairpersons hold a Strategic Planning meeting in which time they focus and plan the events for the upcoming year. All were welcomed this past June, at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare. For those of you who didn’t make it, I’d like to share some of the cool ideas and plans that were covered during our two day session.
First, and foremost was continuing education opportunities for our members, as education is deemed very important in our field. Future classes will be selected based on the following responses that we received from you, the members who attended our State Conference in March, who responded to the surveys sent out by the education committee last Fall, emails to the Chapter members and good old grass root efforts from our volunteers including the Board of Directors.
We made plans to continue to invest into Government Relations efforts due to the current bill (HB 2556) that directly affected massage therapists, and local ordinance issues relating to the practice of massage therapy across our state. If you are interested in reviewing HB 2556, you may copy and paste or click on the following link: http://www.cqstatetrack.com/texis/statetrack/insession/viewrpt?report=5592d0f44a&sid=&Report.workflow=tracking
For more information on legislative and regulatory activities in your area, you may also contact AMTA Government Relations Manager Charlotte Grill at (847) 905-1415.
We are also considering a trip to the State Capital during National Massage Therapy Awareness Week where we’ll do volunteer work to make the public more aware of the benefits and value of massage therapy in health and wellness. Once a date is established, we will get the information out to you!
Mark your calendars! Our State Conference next year is set for April 15, 16 & 17th, 2016. The location has not been selected yet and of course we’ll be sharing the information as soon as it’s decided.
We discussed and planned a Meet-Up. We have a cook-out scheduled for Saturday July 25, 2015 from 2:00-5:00pm at 3704 Lebanon Ave. Bellville, IL 62221. You should have received an email invitation informing you of the details on June 24, 2015. You and your family are invited to attend this cook-out for IL-AMTA members. Hope to see you there! Also, be sure to read our emails to check for future Meet-Ups in your area.
Stay tuned! These were some of the highlights, and there will be more to come!
